Learning in public

That’s really the goal of this site. I’ve learned so much over the years from people sharing their thoughts & learnings online – I want to do the same. Not only may it help others, it helps me learn better through writing.

About me

I love the “day to day” work of defining, building, and taking to market new software products, which I was lucky to do as a product manager at Improbable for 4.5 years (building a cloud platform called SpatialOS to power the next generation of online games) and before that at a startup called Qubit. These were both very formative experiences in fast growing companies.

In 2021 I decided to start my DIY MBA, which I did for a few months before I couldn’t resiste joining the team at Kiln (nĂ©e Skillz), which at the time was a seed-stage staking as a service platform, and where I am now Chief Product Officer.

I still try to move the MBA along evenings & weekends 🙂

Other than that I am very into running, playing tennis and football, kitesurfing, amorously watching anything by Norm MacDonald and Larry David, and sampling cheese & chutney.

I’m a slightly confused Frenchman having grown up and lived 25 years in London, studied in Canada, and now living in Paris.

What we’re building at Kiln

Staking is the core mechanism of modern blockchains. It is the act of locking up collateral to earn the right to secure proof of stake blockchains, and earn a yield while doing so. There is no counterparty risk when staking, you are paid by the protocol – block rewards / inflation & a share of transaction fees.

We facilitate this process through four products:

  • Kiln Validators: running the servers which validate transactions on blockchains & propose new blocks, with enterprise-grade SLAs, deployed on our multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Kiln Connect: one SDK to integrate staking, rewards data, and your custodian on all major PoS blockchains
  • Kiln On-chain: smart contracts for seamless ETH staking & automated rewards management 
  • Kiln Dashboard: 1-click staking dashboard, administration interface, reporting and data exporting

These products enable institutions to seemlessly stake or whitelabel staking into their products.
